Under the strategic guidelines for the Medium and Long Term National Science and Technology Development Program(2006-2020), CHEOS was established as one of the sixteen major national science and technology projects. It is approved to build up a high-resolution earth observation system based on satellites, stratospheric airships and aircrafts, and improve relevant ground systems to carry out application demonstration. By combining other relevant observation systems, they will provide all-weather, all-time, and global earth observation capability. By 2020, it has established a new generation of advanced earth observation system that carries out the observation of land, atmosphere and ocean, thereby providing information service and strategic decision making to various fields, such as modern agriculture, disaster prevention and reduction, resource and environment monitoring, and so on.
To strengthen the implementation of innovation-driven development strategy, we aim to establish CHEOS as “space-eye” project, innovative project and application project.
