International Cooperation in outer space

CNSA has signed 149 space cooperation agreements or memorandums of understanding with 46 national space agencies and 4 international organizations, established 17 space cooperation mechanisms, and participated in 18 international organizations including the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

Satellite Engineering Cooperation

In July 2018, the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite-1 (PRSS-1), jointly developed by China and Pakistan, was successfully launched.

In February 2018, the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES), jointly developed by China and Italy, was successfully launched.

In October 2018, the China-France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSAT), jointly developed by China and France, was successfully launched.

In December 2019, the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite-04A (CBERS-04A), jointly developed by China and Brazil, was successfully launched. The CBERS is hailed as a model of South-South cooperation.

In December 2019, China successfully launched the Ethiopian Remote Sensing Microsatellite, providing remote sensing data for Ethiopia to support the monitoring of droughts and floods.

Lunar and Deep Space Exploration

In April 2019, CNSA held a ceremony for handover of Chang'e-4 international load data and announcement of opportunities in lunar and deep space exploration cooperation.

In July 2020, in the Tianwen-1 mission, China cooperated with France and Austria in the field of payloads and cooperated with ESA and Argentina in the field of ,Tracking,Telemetry and Command.

In March 2021, China and Russia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Construction of International Lunar Research Station . In April 2021, CNSA and Roscosmos jointly issued the Partner Guide for International Lunar Research Station.

Space Application Cooperation

From 2013 to 2021, CNSA has signed cooperative agreements respectively with the countries such as Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, the space agencies of BRICS countries, and the organizations such as Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) to establish satellite data sharing mechanisms.

Based on in-orbit and planned satellite resources, CNSA has developed cooperation on Space Information Corridor of the Belt and Road Initiative, and formed the “four-in-one” space information service capacity of "sensing, transmitting, knowing and using" to realize information interconnection.

CNSA has actively participated in the space climate observatory mechanism and promoted the space technology to address climate change.

CNSA has exchanged the earth observation satellite data with ESA to discuss cooperation in the field of data cross calibration.
