09/25/2013

On the morning of September 25, the China-Netherlands Bilateral Space Workshop was held in Beijing. Mr. Tian Yulong, Secretary General of China National Space Administration (CNSA), attended the workshop and made a speech to introduce the development of China’s space activities. The purpose of the workshop is to promote the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Netherlands space industries.

Tian said in his speech that the Chinese Government always regards the space industry as an integral part of its national overall development strategy, and adheres to the exploration and use of outer space for the peaceful purpose. In recent years, China’s space industry has been developing rapidly and playing an increasingly important role in economic construction and social development. He hoped that both the Chinese and Netherlands space industries, taking this workshop as an opportunity and based on their own technical advantages, to promote the space cooperation between China and the Netherlands.

China launched its Gaofen-1 satellite together with a dispenser and three small satellites developed by the Netherlands ISIS company. This is the first time for China to provide launch service for a Netherlands company, and also an important milestone of China-Netherlands space cooperation.

The related personnel from both Chinese and Netherlands space agencies as well as space enterprises attended the workshop.
