07/17/2013

On July 5th, under the witness of all members of the Council of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), TIAN Yulong, Secretary General of Coordination Committee for International Cooperation of China National Space Administration (CNSA), and Maqbool Ahmed Ghaudhry, Director General of Strategic Plan and Program Management of APSCO, on behalf of the both parties, signed the "Agreement on China's Earth Observation Satellite Data Cooperation". This is of great significance for promoting and standardizing the use of Chinese Earth observation satellite data in APSCO and its Member States and Chinese government playing the lead as the host country and the Chairmanship as well as promoting in-depth international space cooperation and exchanges.

Under the agreement, both parties are willing to further share satellite remote sensing data resources. CNSA makes full use of the remote sensing satellites, including GF-1, resource satellites, meteorological satellites, oceanic satellites, to provide the APSCO Member States with satellite remote sensing application services, thus to reduce natural disaster risks and losses in the Asia-Pacific Region. The use of satellite data follows the “Principles for Peaceful Purposes”.
