The 29th International Charter Space and Major Disasters Board Member and Executive Secretary Meeting held in Berlin

The 29th International Charter Space and Major Disasters Board Member and Executive Secretary meeting was held on April 19th, 2013 in Berlin. Mr. Guoping Li, the deputy director-general of system engineering department from China National Space Administration (CNSA) attended the meeting as a board member. National Disaster Reduction Committee and China Centre for Resources Satellite Data and Application also sent representatives to attend the meeting as the CHARTER authorized user and ECO respectively.

In the meeting, China officially applied to take the leadership for the first half year of 2014, and approved by the board. CNSA also added SJ-9A satellite as the on-duty satellite, providing services for the disaster-affected areas worldwide. The meeting also reviewed and approved the member application from Russia, expanding the total number of the member states to 15.

The day after the meeting, CNSA activated the charter mechanism against the Lushan earthquake which took place in Sichuan province.
