The China's Government and APSCO Signed the Host Country Agreement

On July 15, 2009, after approved and entrusted by the State Council, Mr. LI Yizhong, Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), on behalf of China's  government, signed ‘Host Country Agreement between the Government of The People’s Republic of China and The Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO)’ with APSCO. The Agreement defined the legal status, facilities, privileges and immunities required for the proper functioning of APSCO in China, and laid a solid foundation for APSCO to develop healthily.

After 20 years of preparation, on Dec 16, 2008, the inauguration ceremony of APSCO was held in Beijing, marking that APSCO started operation formally. Mr. Zhang Dejiang, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of China, on behalf of the China's Government, specially gave a congratulatory letter to extend warm congratulations and indicate that China would continue to support the activities of APSCO.

APSCO is an inter-governmental organization consisted of the Asia-Pacific countries, and its headquarter is located in Beijing. The tenet of APSCO is to improve the capability of the Member States in space science, space technology, their peaceful applications, and bring more socio-economic benefits to each of the Member States. There are 7 Member States, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru and Thailand.
