Since the late 1950s, mankind has conducted nearly 300 deep space exploration missions to the moon, planets, planetary systems, asteroids, the sun, the heliosphere and beyond, making a large number of scientific discoveries and technological achievements, expanding mankind's understanding of the universe, and promoting technological and engineering progress in the field of deep space exploration. China's deep space exploration began in 2004. China Lunar Exploration Program had completed the three-step strategic plan of orbiting, landing and returning, and launched the fourth phase of the program. Tianwen-1, China’s first Mars mission, has achieved orbing, landing and roving the Mars with one mission. Asteroid mission, Mars sample return mission, Jupiter system and interplanetary mission have been started as well.
Exploring the vast universe is the common dream of all mankind. In order to promote the development of deep space exploration, to reach an international consensus on the scientific questions of deep space exploration, and address the common problems, risks and challenges facing mankind. China National Space Administration (CNSA) solicits scientific questions and exploration plan suggestions for deep space exploration from around the world.
