Jointly organized by the Secretariat of Asia-Pacific Multilateral Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications (AP-MCSTA) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and implemented by Academy of Opto- Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AOE), a Training Course on Remote sensing technology for Central Asian Countries had been successfully held in Beijing from September 17 to 24 2006. There were 15 technical participants from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and China, attended the training course. This training course mainly emphasized on the fields of remote sensing technology applications in resource utilization, geological survey, disaster management and environmental monitoring, which had close links with the physical features and economic development in Central Asian Countries. During the one-week intensive training, multiple teaching methods was used to generate sound results; skilled professors and experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences related with remote sensing and data applications shared their expertise with the participants whom showed their strong interests in the course. The participants satisfied with all arrangements made by the organizers. Those participants are supposed to be able to improve their skills in applying remote sensing technology after this course, and so that they can make due contributions to the economic growth and social development for their motherlands.
