On May 18, 2005, Mr. Sun Laiyan, Administrator of CNSA, met Boeing Delegation headed by Mr. Pickering, Vice President of Boeing Company.

Administrator Sun Laiyan extended warm welcome to Mr. Pickering and expressed his appreciation for Boeing's efforts in promoting China-America aerospace and aviation cooperation and the Boeing's attention and participation in China's space career. He pointed out that Chinese aviation industry had continuously cooperated with Boeing form many years and the both sides should take the opportunity to extend the collaboration widely and deeply.

Mr. Sun Laiyan also remarked that the Chinese government always stresses the emphasis on the collaboration with the America on aviation and aerospace. He hoped that the tow countries would keep the good trend for the cooperation in aviation. Meanwhile, it was hoped that the cooperation between the two countries in space field would go deeply gradually based on the principles of intercommunication, bettering understanding, extending consensus and strengthening collaboration, and that ultimately the substantive cooperation in space science and space application would be conducted.   　

Mr. Pickering at first congratulated on the great achievements made by china in space field. And then he said that Boeing was glad to develop space cooperation with China and willing to promote the space collaboration between the two countries. China's aviation industry is Boeing's important partner and Boeing has partners in Shanghai, Xi'an and Shenyang. Mr. Pickering said that Boeing would choose the Chinese enterprise to manufacture the rudder for Boeing787 airplane.

It was introduced by Mr. Pickering that, by 2003, the total amount for the purchase of Boeing in China was up to $500 million which was planned to be doubled in the coming 4 years and quadrupled in 7year.

Mr. Li Benzheng and Mr. Qin Fuguang, Deputy Directors General of System Engineering Department of CNSA, attended the meeting.
