On April 18, 2005, Mr. Sun Laiyan, Administrator of CNSA, met with Algerian delegation headed by Zerhouni·Omar·Farouk, President of Algerian Space Agency.

Mr. Sun Laiyan extended warm welcome to Algerian delegation and said that both China and Algeria are developing countries, which have been partners. The Chinese government always attaches emphasis on the diplomatic relationship with Algeria. China is willing to develop space cooperation with African countries especially Algeria, based on the principle of “respect for each other, mutual benefit in cooperation, peaceful utilization and common development". Mr. Zerhouni·Omar·Farouk ‘s visit is believed to promote the relationship between the two countries, making new contributions to the cooperation in space for the two countries.

Mr. Zerhouni·Omar·Farouk remarked that the friendship between China and Algeria is of long standing. Chinese people offered sincere help to Algeria when Algeria got independence. Since then, the friendship between the two countries have been developed constantly with fruitful achievement. As a developing country, Algeria has been paying attention to China's development and is proud of the achievement of manned spaceflight made by China. China has rich experience in space field and has made great achievement. Algeria hopes to seek cooperation opportunity through the visit. He also expected that the cooperation on space between China and Algeria will become a model for developing countries.
