In Decemeber 2013, Mr. XU Dazhe was appointed as Administrator of China National Space Administration, and the vice minister of Industry and Information Technology Ministry by the State Council.
Prior to the nomination to his current post, he was the Chairman of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), in charge with implementing the ambitious agenda to transform CASC to on of the most competitive space company in the world.
Mr. XU is also a member of the International Academy of Astronautics, academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and President of the Chinese Society of Astronautics.
Mr. XU started his career as an engineer in China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) of CASA, and successively held the position of Deputy Division Director, Deputy Director General, Vice President and President of CALT. He had served as the Vice President of CASC since December 2001 and the President of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation since June 2007.
Mr. XU earned a Bachelor and a Master Degree in Engineering Mechanics from Harbin Institute of Technology. He is of Liuyang, Hunan Province descent.

China National Space Administration (CNSA) is the governmental organization of People's Republic of China responsible for the management of space activities for civilian use and international space cooperation with other countries, and performs the corresponding governmental functions.
——Studying and formulating policies and regulations of the space industry;
——Studying and formulating development programs and plans of the space industry;
——Organizing and implementing the major space projects and programs;
——Demonstrating, approving, implementing and supervising civilian space scientific research projects;
——Managing the international space exchanges and cooperation, and participating in the related international organizations and their activities on behalf of the Chinese government.
