FY-2 meteorological satellites are mainly used for collecting the monitoring data from the meteorological, hydrological and oceanic data collection platforms, monitoring the solar activities and the satellite orbit space environment, and providing monitoring data for the satellite engineering and space environment research. FY-3 satellites are China’s second-generation polar orbit meteorological satellites capable of conducting global, all-weather, multi-spectral and three-dimensional quantitative remote sensing. China’s meteorological satellites have achieved the transformation from experimental application type to operational service type.
