Hu Yafeng, Deputy Secretary General of COSTIND attended the ceremony for releasing new book: A General Introduction to Spaceflight (by Song Jian) and the symposium sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering June 1, 2007

Hu delivered important speeches at the symposium. He congratulated on the publication of new book and affirmed its significance.

Hu said the book systematically depicted the space-science achievements made by human in the later half of the 20th century; the close relation between space science and elementary sciences such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, cosmology and biology; that between space science and engineering sciences; Hu also forecast the missions and the development trends of space science in the 21st century and its contribution to human’s progress.  

Hu emphasized, the book not only dealt with space science but, in the interest of human civilization, enunciated the development and function of space science.
